- If you have received roses in a wrapped bouquet or in a box, you must re-cut each rose stem. Fill a clean vase with warm water and floral preservative. Use a sharp knife a cut approximately ½” off each stem at a very steep angle. Immediately place the roses in the vase. Fill the container full of fresh water everyday. Roses are fragrant, fuller and have much more romantic character than any other flower. Their romantic reputation are part of their charm. Appreciate their unique beauty and romantic qualities. Re-cut stems in 3 to 4 days and place in clean fresh water. If a rose has wilted, it is not properly drinking up water. Repeat the cutting process and place the rose into hot (not scalding) water in a deep vase. You may also cut the stem and submerge the entire rose in a tub or sink where it will lay flat for 2 hours.
