In the News: Behind the Scenes at Welke’s Milwaukee Florist
Welke’s Milwaukee Florist was featured on WISN 2 in the run-up to Mother’s Day 2023! Reporter Greg Adams, also know as “DJ Gee A,” spent time with Nikki Welke to master the ins and outs of professional flower design.
After suiting up in Welke’s attire, DJ Gee A learned how to arrange a bouquet of tulips. Since these flowers continue to grow once cut and in water, Nikki showed him how to slow the process with a simple trick. She also shared her knowledge regarding how to cut stems for maximum flower hydration. This technique helps to keep blooms vibrant and lush for longer.
In addition to the mixed tulip bouquet, featured floral designs included the “You Are My Sunshine” arrangement and the “I Lilac You Very Much” bouquet. Nikki’s personal favorite is the “My Darling,” a stunning bouquet bursting with protea, calla lilies, and roses.
